This presentation relays a recent experience with university administration that resulted in a total shutdown of a virtual space dedicated to student mental wellness, specifically because of an objection to a single default avatar. The presentation will discuss the issues at stake, the design of an immersive browser-based gallery that offers visitors to reflect on their avatar assumptions, and presents initial survey findings.
